Recycling During Inclement Weather
Posted on
As outlined in Section 9 (1) (c) of the Village of Cumberland Solid Waste Bylaw No. 1003, 2014, it is the owners responsibility to “place all recyclable materials in a clearly marked recycling container capable of confining the recyclable materials set out for collection”.
We ask that residents use recycling containers that are secure and ensure that recycling materials do no blow out of the container during periods of inclement weather. The solid waste contractor, Emterra, has advised that their staff will not pick up recycling materials that have scattered from recycling containers. The contractor has confirmed that they will be able to complete collection in Cumberland today.
If you have found that your recycling has been strewn about by the wind, please pick up and ensure that for future periods of bad weather the recycling is secured in the container.
