Serious Accident at Cumberland Lake Park

On July 31, 2025 emergency responders attended to a serious accident at Cumberland Lake Park. Comox Valley RCMP are investigating the incident and have provided further details.
On behalf of the Village, Mayor Vickey Brown has offered strength, love, compassion and sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the young woman and infant who died in this terrible accident, and acknowledged the courageous efforts of Lake Park staff, bystanders, and emergency responders to try and save these lives.
The Village will be reviewing the circumstances around this accident to see what we can learn from this tragedy. With this tragic loss of life and the loss of another young life at the lake earlier in July it is a painful time for many in the community.
The Lake Park campground, boat launch, and day use beach area remain open.
