Summer Fire Hazards

Posted on

Sometimes we forget how easy it is for fires to start.

Follow these tips to reduce our chances of summer fires:

  • Use 9.5mm mesh on campfires to control sparks.
  • Use BBQs and grills well away from your home, deck railings, and out from under eaves and hanging branches, and don’t leave them unattended.
  • Cool motorized tools before storing away or laying down in dry grass.
  • Use a spark arrestor on ATV, dirt bike and chainsaw exhausts.
  • Don’t park on dry grass. Trailer wheel bearings and vehicle catalytic converters can get very hot.
  • Don’t let your trailer chains drag and create sparks.
  • Distinguish cigarettes completely in a fire proof container. Don’t throw butts out your vehicle window.

Report fires immediately to 911 or *5555 on your cellular phone.
