Trail Closure Solport Park – Week of May 24, 2022

Forest management and fire abatement works will be conducted within Solport Park beginning on the week of May 24, 2022. This work will continue intermittently through the summer, dependent on active wildfire and weather conditions.

The Solport Park Forest Management and Fire Abatement project will be undertaken by the BC Wildfire service and will consist of crews using chainsaws and a chipper to selectively remove dead, dying, and overcrowded trees from the park.

Trail closures through Solport Park will be in effect during active works and signs will be posted to inform residents. Trail users are encouraged to use the Westwood and Egremont connectors off of Solport Street as a detour during these times.

Forest management works were identified as a priority during a public outreach campaign in 2020 to determine the future of the park space. Information on Solport Park, including details on the park planning process can be accessed at:
