The Cumberland Recreation Centre will be closed from 8 am to 5 pm on Thursday, January 17 as water service to the building will be shut off. The CRI will be open in the morning from 7 to 8 am and in the evening from 5 to 9 pm.
The work is related to the Coal Creek well water supply project which includes construction of a wellhead in Coal Creek Historic Park, a pump control building and disinfection treatment facility located on Comox Lake Road, and construction of a new water main along Dunsmuir Road (west) from Comox Lake Road to First Street. The water shut-off will allow the new water main along Dunsmuir Avenue (west) to be tied-in to the water supply system.
The project is expected to be complete and operational by March 2013 bringing water from the Coal Creek well to areas of Cumberland.
