Cumberland Change in Chief Administrative Officer

Posted on

The Village of Cumberland has announced that Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Clayton Postings has submitted his resignation and will complete his two-year tenure as Village CAO on April 22, 2022.

“We are very disappointed to see Clayton go, but very happy in the changes he has implemented within the Village organization, and the positive culture he has fostered with Village staff, acknowledged Mayor Leslie Baird. “We certainly respect Clayton’s difficult decision to take on another opportunity that will result in more time spent with his young family and we wish him well in his future endeavors.”

In response to the new vacancy, Village council has appointed current Chief Financial Officer and Deputy CAO Michell Mason as Interim CAO. Kevin McPhedran, current Manager of Parks and Recreation has also been appointed as Interim Deputy CAO.

Mayor Baird acknowledged that it was important to Council that Village staff not lose their current momentum and that these internal appointments will allow staff to continue to push forward on the Village’s strategic priorities and projects. Likewise, it will provide Council with additional time to ensure a long-term plan is in place and to make sure the appropriate supports and/or resources are in place.

“We are very lucky to have capable leadership in our organization that will allow staff to continue to move forward with their current workplans and allow Council an opportunity to ensure they continue to be supported effectively.”
