Cumberland Continues to Work to Reduce its Carbon Emissions

Posted on

Each year, the Village of Cumberland measures carbon emissions related directly to the activities of the Village.

This year’s inventory of emissions amounts to 195.02 tCO2e (equivalent tonnes of CO2). The full year of organic waste composting has been estimated to have reduced overall community emissions by 126.30 tCO2e.

In order to meet the Climate Action Charter carbon neutral commitment, the Village of Cumberland will purchase carbon offsets for the net emissions of 68.7 tCO2e from the Great Bear Forest Carbon Project located in the Kitimat, BC area.
