Cumberland Receives Grant for an Age-Friendly Assessment and Action Plan

Posted on

Through a grant from the BC Ministry of Health, the Village will undertake an Age-Friendly Assessment and Action Plan in 2019 to ensure Seniors feel supported, included, and valued in their community and are able to reside in the community as long as they wish, known as “aging in place”. Cumberland is a small thriving community with a vibrant and engaged seniors population.

Watch for information this spring on community consultation opportunities. The first phase will be an Assessment Plan that identifies what we are doing well, where we can improve and a vision for what we hope to achieve. The second phase will be a developed Action Plan that will be presented back to the community and stakeholders for further input and refinement.

The Village of Cumberland hopes to have a Vill-AGE Friendly Plan that is achievable in the context of a small community with limited resources while having a strong desire to ensure people of all ages are valued and supported.
