Free Senior’s Fitness Classes Coming to Cumberland Recreation

This fall Cumberland Recreation is offering two free fitness programs for seniors.

Choose to Move

Information Session: Tuesday, September 11, 2018, 1:00 – 2:30 pm, at Cumberland Recreation. No advance registration required.

Choose to Move is a 6-month program designed to introduce you to the habit of physical activity, meet new friends, and make a positive health lifestyle change. You will work with a BCRPA-registered Fitness Leader to develop a tailored physical activity plan. When things get challenging, you have the support from your coach and a group of other seniors, who, just like you, are making a change.

ActivAge

September 26, 2018 – December 12, 2018 on Wednesday afternoons from 1 pm-2 pm or from 2:15 pm-3:15 pm.

ActivAge is a 3-month group-led physical activity program for inactive older adults. This program introduces you to physical activity and reinforces your commitment to incorporate fitness into your daily life. This fun and social program will help get you moving in a relaxed environment with like minded people. Each class session incorporates physical activities that engage you, and features in-class discussion and resources to improve overall health and physical well-being.

More About the Programs

Cumberland Recreation and Comox Community Centre have partnered with BC Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA) and the University of British Columbia’s Active Aging Research Team to offer these free programs to encourage seniors to get up, get out and get active. Choose to Move and ActivAgeTM are free for anyone 65 years and older, who is inactive and interested in becoming more active.
