Get Prepared for Emergency Preparedness Week

Posted on

It’s Emergency Preparedness Week.

Did you know that all residents in the Comox Valley Regional District have an emergency notification system which will notify you in event of a natural disaster or emergency? It will help provide you with vital information. Choose to receive notifications by text or phone. Don’t delay. Sign up today. Visit or call 250-334-6000.

Residents can also follow the Village of Cumberland Emergency Program Facebook page, which provides urgent information to the public regarding local emergencies, evacuations, alerts and orders.

“Get informed – know the risks within your community, make a plan and an emergency preparedness kit,” states Comox Valley Emergency Program Coordinator Howie Siemens. “Ensuring you and your family have a plan in place will alleviate extra stress and confusion in difficult times. Every step we each individually take reduces the burden on our emergency response personnel.”

Spring Emergency Preparedness Tips:

  1. Register for emergency alerts and check your pre-existing account to ensure contact numbers and lists are accurate.
  2. Get informed about the risks within your community.
  3. Develop an emergency plan for you and your family.
  4. Develop emergency kits for you, your family and even pets.
