Holiday Solid Waste Schedule

Residential solid waste will be collected over the holidays on:
- Thursday, December 26, 2019: unlimited recycling & unlimited organics
- Thursday, January 2, 2020: one can of garbage & unlimited organics
Holiday Items You Can Recycle
In your curbside container:
- paper gift wrap and cards (no plastic or foil gift wrap, ribbons, or bows)
At the Waste Management Centre on Bevan Road and other depots:
- foam packing (no foam peanuts),
- plastic bags and overwrap, and
- flexible plastic packaging.

Garbage
Tags for additional garbage containers are available at the Village office for $2 per container. Please grab your tags early as the Village office will be closed at noon on December 24 and 31, 2019.
Christmas Tree Disposal
You can dispose of your Christmas tree through Cumberland’s weekly curbside organics collection each Wednesday.
Requirements:
- please remove all decorations and every last piece of tinsel
- trees taller than 3′ must be cut in half
- trees cannot be longer than 90cm (36in), wider than 60cm (24in) in diameter and weigh more than 22 kg (49 pounds).
- tree trunk diameter cannot exceed 7.6cm (3in) – these can jam the packing mechanism in the truck.
You may also take your tree to the Comox Strathcona Waste Management Centre at 2400 Bevan Road for a charge of $10. Call the centre at 250-334-6016 for more information.
