At its meeting on November 26, 2012, Cumberland Council resolved to support the Island Corridor Foundation’s request for $391,811 in funding from the Comox Valley Regional District for rail infrastructure improvements.
The support will come through Council’s representative on the Regional Board, Councillor Sproule, and is conditional upon Councillor Sproule being satisfied with information on the source for outstanding funds, the funding being a one-time grant from the CVRD, and the CVRD obtaining a legal opinion to ensure that a grant from the CVRD is lawful under the provisions of the BC Local Government Act.
For more background information on the request, including information from the Island Corridor Foundation, the CVRD, and the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development, see the November 26, 2012 council meeting agenda.
