Lake Park Shoreline Restoration and Safety Upgrade Project
Posted on
Replacement of the Lake Park shoreline wall is slated to begin on Monday February 14, 2022. Construction is expected to last several weeks and we ask the public to respect our contractor’s safety by staying out of the work site during this timeframe.
The project follows Green Shores Principles and will replace the existing lock block retaining wall with a new rock armoured bank that aims to create a sustainable and more natural looking shoreline. Once the wall is finished numerous native trees and shrubs will be planted, and new stone stairways will be built to provide access to the water. The result will be a safe, environmentally friendly, and aesthetically pleasing enhancement to the park.
This project has been supported largely through provincial grant funding with contributions from the Village of Cumberland. A big thank you to BC Hydro, Mosaic Forest Management, the Comox Valley Regional District, and the Cumberland Lake Wilderness Society in helping to get us to construction.

The shoreline protection will run from the main beach near the waterfront RV campsites to the paddle sports rental building. Click to enlarge image.
