May 2nd and 7th Climate Action Plan – Community Engagement Sessions

The Village invites you to join us at one of the following engagement sessions on Cumberland’s Climate Action Plan and provide your input on proposed climate actions:
Drop-in open house: Thu, May 2, 4:30-7:00 pm, Council Chambers, 2675 Dunsmuir Ave.
Online: Tue, May 7, 12:00-1:00 pm. Email planning@cumberland.ca for the meeting link.
A few highlights from the proposed actions include:
- Set 2050 as target to achieve net zero GHG emissions.
- Adopt the Zero Carbon Step Code to require new buildings to be more energy efficient
- Support retrofits of existing homes to clean energy use and better energy efficiency
- Add more public EV charging stations
- Complete a Drought Response Plan.
- Fire smart training for the community.
The proposed actions will also be posted at engagecomoxvalley.ca/climate-action-plan and open for comment May 1 – May 10. The final step will be presentation of the Climate Action Plan to Council for review and adoption.
