No. 6 Mine Park Tree Work

Posted on

The Village of Cumberland will be undertaking small scale tree health and safety works in No.6 Mine Park during spring 2021. Once complete the Village parks department will undertake forest restoration works through the spring and fall to improve habitat diversity and resiliency within the park. Restoration works will include designating natural revegetation zones, adding mulch to protect garden beds and tree roots, and installing a broader range of native plant species with a focus on increasing habitat and foraging opportunities for native wildlife.

Several areas of the park may be temporarily closed during the tree work but information signage will be put in place ahead of time and there will be staff present to watch for pedestrians. During this time we ask the public to respect staff and contractor safety by staying out of the park until works are complete.

For more information please reach out to the Village through our general information email: info@nullcumberland.ca
