Potential Canada Post Strike
Posted on
Village residents and businesses are being advised that they may experience delays in receiving notices and other types of correspondence from the Village of Cumberland through the mail due to the potential Canada Post strike.
eBilling for Property Taxes and Utilities
Property Taxes must be paid by July 2 to avoid a 10% penalty.
Sign up now for eBilling to receive property tax and utility bill notices and to be informed about amounts due and receive details about how to claim your homeowner grant.
You are responsible to ensure your taxes are paid in full by the deadline regardless of if you receive a tax notice or if a third party, such as your mortgage institute, is paying on your behalf. Failure to pay or claim your residential homeowner grant, if eligible, by this deadline will result in a 10% penalty on current year balances.
Sign up for ebilling HERE
All registered homeowners on a property title must enroll separately for e-billing in order to avoid receiving paper bills.
If you own more than one property in the Village, you must sign up for ebilling for each separate property.
Payments
Cheque payments that are currently in the property of Canada Post upon the due date will be applied the day they are received by the Village. See alternative payment options.
Contact the Village Office at 250-336-2291 or info@cumberland.ca to receive a copy of your property tax bill well before the deadline to avoid penalties due to the strike.
Suppliers working with the Village
Village suppliers and vendors are asked to email invoices electronically to ap@cumberland.ca. Sign up for EFT payments directly to your bank account by contacting Accounts Payable at ap@cumberland.ca. Alternatively, vendors can arrange with Accounts Payable to pick up cheques at the Village Office.
