Rec Centre Gymnasium Open After Renovations

The Cumberland Recreation Centre gymnasium was closed in December for renovations. The Recreation Department is pleased to announce that the gymnasium has been reopened ahead of schedule.
All programs that were moved during the renovations are back to their regular locations as of 5 pm on January 3, 2017.
The original recreation hall was built in the 1930s. The renovations were made to increase the safety of the building and the usable space. They included sealing and resurfacing the ceiling to prevent insulation from falling through, rebuilding the mezzanine railing to meet code, and sealing off the redundant fire exits on the back side of the gymnasium.
