Recreation Centre Gymnasium Reopens August 5

Remediation work at the Cumberland Recreation gymnasium is now complete!
The remediation work was needed to help keep patrons safe and involved removing lead-containing paint that had begun peeling from the upper walls. We’re happy to say that that project is now complete. Unfortunately the upper walls will remain uncovered until funding is available likely in late 2026.
We continue to ask for your patience and understanding between now and then as we strive to keep our staff and patrons safe while remaining fiscally responsible to Cumberland residents. While the gymnasium may not earn any style points over the next year or so, it’s still here to welcome you for your favourite gym-based activities.
