Slash Piles to be Burned South of the Village

Posted on

Residents are advised that open burning of slash piles from forestry operations will take place south and southeast of Cumberland in late October and November 2015.

This burning will take place under suitable weather, wind and venting conditions. Forestry company crews will monitor the burning with the assistance of Cumberland Fire Rescue.

Forestry company staff are cooperating with the Village by burning this slash debris in the fall and winter months to help reduce the risk of summer forest fires, which could be a more serious threat to the community. Local governments in BC have limited control over forest management activities on private managed forest land.
