Village Awarded Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program Funding

Posted on

In March, the Village of Cumberland received a grant funding award of $97,125 under the Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program (REDIP). The program is provided by the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation and is intended to promote economic diversification, clean-economy opportunities and infrastructure development in BC’s rural communities.

The funding will facilitate the Village’s Investment and Development Readiness Project which will guide how the Village can strategically facilitate private commercial and industrial development. It will also provide direction for the Village in managing its land portfolio, specifically the Union Road Lands, through land value capture and disposition, for the redevelopment of civic facilities and facilitate new commercial development in the community. The Project will consider and include three specific study components, including:

  • An Industrial, Commercial and Investment (ICI) Inventory Assessment and Fiscal Impact Analysis on new or potential development; and
  • A Development and Servicing Strategy for the Village owned Union Road Lands

Further information on the REDIP Program, including a list of funded projects can be found here.
